Camfil launches Stat-Safe filter cartridges for combustible dust safety

The new Stat-Safe cartridges use patented antistatic urethane instead of external grounding components.

Camfil has introduced Stat-Safe filter cartridges designed to dissipate static charges and reduce static electricity buildup inside industrial dust collectors.

The cartridges use a patented antistatic urethane that secures the filter pan to the media pack while providing static dissipation. According to Camfil, the design differs from conventional grounding approaches that rely on clips, wires or fabric swatches.

Because the static-dissipative mechanism is integrated into the cartridge construction, the antistatic feature cannot break off during operation. Camfil said the design provides more reliable static dissipation performance in dust collection systems.

“Static electricity is a serious risk in many dust collection environments, especially where combustible dust is present,” said Randi Huckaby, Product Manager – Dry Filtration APC Engineer, Research & Development at Camfil APC. “Stat-Safe cartridges give facilities a more reliable way to dissipate static charges because the antistatic feature is built directly into the filter construction.”

Camfil offers Stat-Safe filter cartridges for most major dust collector brands. The cartridges are available with OmniPleat cellulose or DuraPleat spunbond filter media.

The filters are intended for applications involving pharmaceutical, plastic, textile and food dust, along with other manufacturing processes where static electricity presents a safety concern.
