Emerson has launched the TESCOM RC-X motorized injection rate control valve, designed to provide accurate, repeatable chemical dosing for offshore flow assurance applications while helping operators reduce chemical consumption and operating costs.

Flow assurance is an important consideration for offshore production facilities as operations expand into deeper water, longer tiebacks, deeper wells and higher-temperature, higher-pressure reservoirs. These conditions can increase the risk of hydrate formation, corrosion, wax buildup, scale, asphaltene deposits and emulsions that restrict production flow.

According to Emerson, the TESCOM RC-X valve helps operators avoid the effects of over- and under-injection by delivering precise chemical dosing. Accurate injection can reduce chemical waste, minimize maintenance trips to replenish chemical storage tanks and help protect downstream processing operations, while insufficient dosing can increase the risk of equipment damage and reduced production.

The valve is designed to operate with Emerson's Micro Motion Coriolis flowmeters in offshore chemical injection systems. Its short-stroke design provides repeatable flow control at pressures up to 15,000 pounds per square inch and supports flow rates from 0.02 to 500 liters per hour using a 4–20 milliampere control signal.

The electric actuator eliminates the need for compressed air, making the valve suitable for installations where air supplies are unavailable or unreliable.

Available in medium- and high-pressure configurations, the TESCOM RC-X valve features a compact, lightweight design that can reduce skid size. Emerson says the valve also uses fewer moving parts than comparable products to help improve reliability and reduce maintenance requirements. The valve is explosion-proof, carries an IP67 rating and complies with NACE MR0175 requirements.

The TESCOM RC-X valve is designed for use with Micro Motion Coriolis flowmeters, which provide mass flow measurement for liquids, gases and slurries in offshore chemical injection applications.
