ROSS’ MegaShear Model HSM-706MS-50 is a sanitary inline mixer designed for ultra-high shear processing of liquids and semi-viscous materials.

The mixer targets applications requiring rapid particle size reduction, emulsification, dispersion and homogenization. It is designed for use in pharmaceutical, food, cosmetic and specialty chemical processing.

The patented MegaShear rotor/stator generator can operate at speeds up to 7,200 rpm. At maximum speed, the generator produces a tip speed of approximately 11,300 feet per minute.

A 50-horsepower explosion-proof, inverter-duty motor provides variable-speed control for the mixing process.

The mixer’s product-contact surfaces use Type 316 stainless steel with a 150-grit polished finish. The mixing chamber is rated for pressures up to 150 psig and temperatures up to 250°F. A stainless-steel jacket provides temperature control during processing.

Tri-clamp inlet and outlet connections support integration with existing sanitary process lines.

For demanding operating conditions, the MegaShear mixer incorporates a bearing housing with integrated cooling coils and a forced oil lubrication system. The lubrication system includes a pump, filter and monitoring instrumentation.

The mixer is mounted on a stainless-steel base with a 150-grit polished finish. Sanitary caster wheels allow the unit to be repositioned for processing and cleaning.
