Munson Machinery has introduced a cylindrical plow blender designed for rapid fluidized blending of fibrous, interlocking, dense and moist or oily bulk materials.

The Model HB-48-SSCYL handles batches up to 70 cubic feet (2 cubic meters). Its cylindrical mixing vessel uses a solid agitator shaft with wedge-shaped plow blades.

The agitator rotates at roughly four times the speed of agitators used in trough-style ribbon, paddle and plow blenders. This creates an airborne material flow that fills the vessel and promotes rapid, uniform distribution throughout the batch.

According to Munson Machinery, the process can distribute materials in the parts-per-million range regardless of particle size, shape or bulk density.

Optional injection ports allow the blender to distribute liquid additions throughout the batch. The company says this can occur more rapidly than with standard trough-style machines.

The HB-48-SSCYL is constructed of Type 304 stainless steel and uses a 150-horsepower (110.3-kilowatt) gear motor drive. The configuration includes nine charging ports, three side access doors, two discharge ports and automated controls.

Available options include sanitary design and construction, high-speed choppers and ASME-certified jackets.
