Munson Machinery introduces stainless-steel Hammerhead Hammer Mill for high-capacity size reduction
Munson Machinery has introduced the HM-141-SS Hammerhead Hammer Mill, a stainless-steel size reduction system designed to process friable and fibrous bulk materials at high rates. The mill produces particle sizes ranging from coarse to fine for applications involving animal feed, grain, biomass, wood chips, composites and other solid materials.
The HM-141-SS uses high-speed hammers to propel material against breaker-plate ridges and perforated screens. A 75-horsepower (56-kilowatt) motor drives the hammers at 1,800 to 3,600 rpm, generating tip speeds of 3,600 to 24,000 ft/min.
Particle size is controlled by screen aperture size. The mill combines a lower 180-degree cylindrical screen with a 90-degree screen in the hinged upper case, increasing total screen area and capacity by 50%.
Reversible, hardened hammers allow operators to use all four cutting edges before replacement. A removable pin recessed within a hardened-steel guard provides access to the secondary shafts, hammers and spacers for servicing.
The heavy-gauge stainless-steel housing supports structural rigidity and alignment under impact and operating loads. A large, safety-interlocked door provides access to the mill interior for inspection and maintenance. Material can be discharged pneumatically or by gravity.
