Sidel launches Cermex RoboSELEX for flexible bottle case packing
Sidel has introduced Cermex RoboSELEX, an accumulation-free bottle collating system for case packers that handles speeds of up to 320 products per minute.
The system is designed for manufacturers handling lightweight and uniquely shaped bottles in the Food, Home and Personal Care (FHPC) markets. It supports varied bottle geometries and batch configurations while maintaining continuous product flow.
Cermex RoboSELEX builds on Sidel’s Cermex ProSelex concept and uses a robotic comb collating device. Two Delta robots provide continuous motion without accumulation, helping reduce friction, product shocks, scratches and jamming.
The system can handle complex bottle designs, including conical, asymmetrical and small-base shapes. It supports batch configurations ranging from 3 × 1 to 8 × 6 case counts, depending on product size. Batch orientation takes place at the source, eliminating the need for an intermediary rotating table.
The design also eliminates the need for pucks when transferring unstable or complex bottle shapes between machines. This removes puck management during changeovers while reducing associated manufacturing and storage requirements.
Cermex RoboSELEX is designed for fast, repeatable format changes. Sidel says collation changes can take as little as one minute, while bottle format changes require no more than two minutes and 30 seconds.
Only the robot-mounted comb requires replacement when switching formats. A quick-release system allows the change without additional mechanical adjustments, while the core system remains accessible from ground level.
The system was first introduced to customers at interpack in Düsseldorf in May.
