Explosion at Florida chemical plant causes $1 million in damage

An explosion and fire Thursday night at the Reichhold Chemicals Plant in Pensacola, Fla., caused approximately $1 million in damage, according to the state Fire Marshal’s Office.

The explosion occurred around 10:30 p.m. in one of the plant's tank farms. The fire was contained and extinguished in about 30 minutes, the Pensacola News Journal reported.

The State Fire Marshal is conducting an investigation into the cause of the incident. No injuries were reported.

According to its website, Reichhold supplies unsaturated polyester resins for composites and coating resins for a variety of applications.
