Eight workers suffered injuries in a fire that broke out early Saturday morning at the Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. plant in Port Arthur, Texas.

The fire occurred at around 4:00 a.m. during a turnaround period, the company said.

Chevron Phillips said its in-house emergency response team responded to the incident.

"The safety of our employees is our highest priority," Margie Conway, plant manager at the Port Arthur facility, said in a press release. "We regret very much that this incident has occurred, and are thankful that most of the contractor employees were treated and released from the hospital."
