Honeywell to collaborate with L.A. Turbine, GEA
L.A. Turbine Corp. and GEA joined Honeywell’s Connected Plant program to jointly develop and provide solutions and technologies to help customers minimize unplanned shutdowns and safety risks while optimizing output yields. Through this collaboration, L.A. Turbine and GEA can help customers leverage data and insights in their operations along with the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) in one package with Honeywell UOP Russell’s modular gas processing plants.
Siemens expands open cycle power plant in Kuwait with steam turbine
Chinese EPC contractor SEPCOIII contracted with Siemens to deliver an industrial steam turbine package to expand the Az Zour South 2 open cycle gas turbine power plant into a combined cycle power plant located in Kuwait. The plant is operated by the Ministry of Electricity & Water (MEW). The expansion will increase the total installed capacity of the plant by 263 megawatts (MW) without using any additional gas. The combined cycle power plant is expected to go into operation in mid-2019.

Mouser Electronics Inc. signed a global distribution agreement with MEMSIC Inc. Tnemec Expands R&D facility and upgrades capabilities
Tnemec Company Inc., opened its new research and development (R&D) facility on March 30, 2017, marking the expansion of its current manufacturing plant in North Kansas City, Missouri. The facility includes an upgrade that doubles the size of its previous R&D laboratory and office space while making notable improvements to its testing and ventilation equipment.
Among the upgrades is a new chemical immersion room allows Tnemec’s R&D team to conduct more expansive performance testing, including in-house autoclave tests and severe wastewater analysis testing (S.W.A.T.). Several updated fume hoods were also installed to handle tougher testing protocols.

Nexeo Solutions authorized as distributor for Solvay AEROSOL surfactants
Effective April 30, 2017, Nexeo Solutions will become an authorized distributor of the Solvay AEROSOL Surfactant Chemistry, formerly sold by Cytec Industries Inc., in the U.S. and Canada. Solvay acquired Cytec Industries Inc. in 2015.
This decision will help Solvay focus on the continued development of solutions for the coatings, emulsion polymerization and industrial markets. Solvay will continue to supply these products with the same manufacturing location, process and sales specifications.
LASE delivers to Vale’s world’s biggest mining project at S11D Complex in Brazil
LASE delivered a 15 LaseBVC conveyor belt measuring system to the S11D Complex, an iron ore mining project undertaken by Vale in North Brazil. Sapona Plastics expands to accommodate growing demand
North Carolina-based housewares and personal care products manufacturer Sapona Plastics LLC announced plans to expand into two North Carolina locations to accommodate growth. As part of the expansion, the company will add new equipment to its Asheboro facility, as well as expand its presence to Seagrove by upgrading a 90,000-square-foot warehouse. This will allow Sapona Plastics to grow its manufacturing capabilities while continuing warehousing and distribution.
Zhejiang Petroleum & Chemical Co. awards DuPont contract
China’s Zhejiang Petroleum and Chemical Co. (ZPC) awarded and signed contracts for the engineering, technology license and proprietary equipment for a MECS® sulfuric acid regeneration (SAR) unit, licensed by DuPont Clean Technologies. ZPC is building a greenfield refinery and petrochemical project on Dayushan Island, just off the coast of eastern China, near Shanghai and Ningbo. The $15 billion project is the largest privately led petrochemical and refining project in China’s history, and will be executed in two phases with the first phase coming online in late 2018.
Festo names AWC, BG Technologies, Wolf Solutions as distributors
Automotion technology supplier Festo named three new distributors to its team.
AWC will distribute process automation products in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas. AWC offers customers a team of more than 400 engineers, technical support and service specialists across 30 local customer care centers, located mainly in the southern U.S.
BG Technologies will distribute sensors and power supply products in Texas. The small, woman-owned industrial electronic distributor has a staff that offers more than 130 years of combined industrial electronic experience.
Wolf Solutions will distribute automation products in Oklahoma and Texas. A service disabled veteran-owned small business in Krum, Texas, the company offers extensive industrial automation and project management experience.
