A. O. Smith acquires Leonard Valve Company

Global water technology company A. O. Smith Corporation announced that it has completed the acquisition of LVC Holdco LLC, the parent company of Leonard Valve, for $470 million, subject to customary adjustments. The all-cash transaction is valued at approximately $412 million after accounting for estimated tax benefits and was funded through borrowings under a new credit agreement.

According to A. O. Smith, the acquisition expands the company’s presence in the water management market while enhancing its digital capabilities and integrated product offerings for commercial and institutional customers. Leonard Valve designs and manufactures water temperature control valves, digital and thermostatic mixing systems, and monitoring devices used in hospitals, schools, universities, industrial facilities, and other commercial environments.

Founded in 1911 and headquartered in Cranston, Rhode Island, Leonard Valve also includes the Heat-Timer brand, which provides advanced boiler controls for hydronic heating systems. The company’s technologies support precise and safe water temperature control in demanding applications.

A. O. Smith stated that Leonard Valve’s portfolio complements its existing water heating and management solutions, strengthening its ability to deliver integrated systems to customers. Leonard Valve will join A. O. Smith’s operations as the companies combine expertise in water temperature control, digital monitoring, and boiler management technologies.
