American Chemistry Council announces 2026 Responsible Care award winners
The American Chemistry Council (ACC) announced the recipients of its 2026 Responsible Care and Sustainability Leadership Awards during its Responsible Care and Sustainability Conference, recognizing companies and individuals advancing safety, environmental performance, and innovation in the chemical industry.
According to the ACC, the awards highlight leadership in environmental, health, and safety practices, as well as initiatives that improve sustainability and operational performance across manufacturing and supply chains.
In the Responsible Care Company of the Year category, Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP was recognized in the large company segment, while TotalEnergies Petrochemicals & Refining USA, Inc. received the medium company award and PQ Corporation was honored in the small company category. These awards recognize performance in environmental, health, and safety stewardship and continuous improvement.
For Responsible Care Partner Company of the Year, the council recognized Trinity Industries, Inc., Total Quality Logistics, and Material Logistics & Services, LLC for their roles in chemical distribution, transportation, and logistics safety.
The TRANSCAER Responsible Care Partner of the Year award was presented to Kenan Advantage Group, Inc.
In the Responsible Care Initiative of the Year category, awards were presented to Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP, Arkema, Inc., Climax Molybdenum Company, and Schneider National Bulk for programs focused on employee safety, environmental protection, and operational security.
The Sustainability Leadership Awards recognized innovations across several categories. Wacker Chemical Corporation received the Sustainable Chemistry Innovation and Transparency Award, while LANXESS Corporation was recognized for environmental protection. Syensqo received the circularity award, and Dow was honored for social responsibility and community engagement. TrueNorth Collective, nominated by Cabot Corporation, received the External Collaborator Award.
Additional recognitions included Employee of the Year awards for Karen Study, Chief Process Safety Officer at Dow, and Jim Clawson Jr., CEO of Third Coast, as well as awards for product safety, artificial intelligence and digitalization, and partner sustainability. The council also recognized multiple projects and facilities for energy efficiency, waste management, water stewardship, and safety performance.
According to the American Chemistry Council, the awards reflect ongoing efforts by chemical manufacturers and supply chain partners to improve safety outcomes, reduce environmental impact, and advance sustainable manufacturing practices across the industry.
