Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) has expanded its Yorkton, Saskatchewan agro-industrial complex with an expanded canola processing facility and the company’s first pea protein production plant in Canada.

The new facilities increase LDC’s processing capacity in one of the world’s largest pea- and canola-producing regions. The expanded canola operation more than doubles crushing capacity to over 2 million metric tons annually.

The new pea protein facility adds the ability to process up to 75,000 metric tons of yellow peas each year, supporting production of value-added plant-based ingredients.

According to LDC, the expansion will help meet growing global demand from food, feed and renewable energy markets for canola- and pea-based products.

The company said the increased capacity will provide customers with greater access to plant-based ingredients supported by expanded production capabilities and traceable sourcing.
