Rotary batch mixer improves uniform mixing of abrasive bulk materials

GB-35-ARL Rotary Batch Mixer from Munson Machinery produces homogeneous batches in one to three minutes for abrasive materials such as glass cullet, sand, ceramics, refractories, and aggregates.

The unit processes batch sizes from 5 to 35 cubic feet (0.14 to 1 cubic meter) and maintains consistent mixing regardless of variations in particle size, shape, bulk density, or ingredient ratios. The rotating drum is supported by trunnion rings on each end, eliminating the need for internal shafts, bearings, and seals that typically require maintenance.

As the drum rotates, internal mixing flights tumble, fold, and turn the material while moving it toward a stationary plug gate valve. This design allows for complete discharge without segregation or residual material remaining in the vessel.

All material contact surfaces, including lifters, baffles, and inlet and outlet chutes, are constructed from hardened steel to withstand abrasive wear. These components are bolted in place, allowing for faster replacement when needed.

The mixer features stationary inlet and outlet points, enabling inline operation and continuous rotation during loading and unloading. This configuration reduces overall cycle times and supports higher throughput.

A large side access door provides operators with direct access to internal surfaces, facilitating faster cleaning. The absence of retained material further reduces cleaning time between batches.
