Coperion K-Tron launches K-Vision-III feeder control platform

K-Vision-III centralizes feeder data and control, providing operators with real-time monitoring, trending and process adjustment capabilities.

Coperion K-Tron has launched the K-Vision-III, the latest generation of its feeder line control and process visualization system.

The redesigned platform provides centralized monitoring and control for up to 24 KCM feeder control modules on a single process line. Operators can access real-time feeder monitoring, trending, configuration and process adjustment functions through a high-resolution touchscreen.

K-Vision-III also adds expanded recipe management capabilities. The system supports material configurations, process recipes, recipe proportioning, staged startup and shutdown sequences, and ingredient priority management.

Automated calculations help support consistent process control while reducing manual operator tasks.

For plant integration, K-Vision-III supports Ethernet-based industrial communication protocols, including Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP and Profinet. The system functions as a communication gateway between an entire feeder line and plant distributed control system (DCS) or programmable logic controller (PLC) systems.

The platform also includes backup and restore functions for feeder controller parameters. This allows individual controllers to be rapidly reconfigured or replaced, helping facilities reduce potential downtime.

Despite its redesigned hardware and software architecture, K-Vision-III retains the navigation structure and workflows used by previous K-Vision generations. Coperion K-Tron said this is intended to help existing users transition with minimal training. The system is available in multiple languages.

“With the K-Vision-III, we continue the tradition of innovation and continuous improvement in feeder controls that has long been a hallmark of Coperion K-Tron,” said Jay Daniel, Head of R&D for Feeders and Feeder Systems within Coperion’s Performance Materials Division.

The system is designed for process industries that require precise material handling and feeding operations, with functions for feeder management, process visibility and plant system connectivity.
