Finish Thompson MSDB Series magnetic drive pumps reach heads up to 306 feet
Finish Thompson MSDB Series magnetic drive centrifugal pumps provide high-head performance for low-flow chemical transfer applications. Designed for filtration, spray systems and chemical delivery, the pumps eliminate mechanical seals and associated maintenance requirements.
Based on Finish Thompson's DB11/15 platform, the MSDB Series includes two configurations. The MSDB2 uses two impellers, while the MSDB3 uses three. Each additional stage increases pump head to meet higher-pressure requirements at lower flow rates.
The pumps deliver heads up to 306 feet and flows ranging from 1 to 69.8 gallons per minute. Maximum working pressure reaches 135 psi. The flooded-suction design requires a flooded inlet and is not self-priming.
The MSDB Series is available in polypropylene/PPS and PVDF/PPS construction for corrosive fluid handling. Maximum operating temperatures reach 180°F for polypropylene/PPS models and 220°F for PVDF/PPS models. The pumps also handle fluid viscosities exceeding 150 centipoise.
Key components use 40% glass-filled polyphenylene sulfide (PPS). These include the impellers, drive shaft, diffusers, middle housing and inner volute. The material's stiffness helps prevent deflection that could cause internal rubbing.
A neodymium magnetic drive system handles fluids with specific gravities above 1.8. The inner drive magnets are encapsulated in unfilled polypropylene or PVDF to protect them from pumped fluids. A Vapor Protection System uses O-rings to protect the outer drive magnet and motor face from corrosive vapors and fumes.
The compact, close-coupled design accommodates National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) frame motors. Horizontal installation is available, while vertical installation requires an IEC motor. An Easy Set outer drive simplifies motor installation without measurement.
Finish Thompson's MSDB Series carries CE, UKCA and EAC certifications and includes a five-year warranty. Applications include chemical processing, electroplating, water and wastewater treatment, electronics, pharmaceuticals and wet scrubbers.
