Specialty chemicals company The Lubrizol Corporation is to expand its home care product line by acquiring Warwick Chemicals.
Headquartered in North Wales, Warwick Chemicals develops and produces stain removal technology with hygiene benefits. Its products are used in laundry detergent powders and automatic dishwashing products that are sold in more than 50 countries around the world. The transaction also includes Warwick Equest, a manufacturer of test swatches for fabric cleaning.
"The acquisition of Warwick will complement Lubrizol's strong portfolio of rheology modifiers, functional polymers and surfactants, and will place us in an excellent position to offer integrated solutions to our customers," commented Rick Tolin, vice president and general manager of Lubrizol Personal and Home Care.
Upon completion of the transaction, Warwick Chemicals will retain its company name and will become part of Lubrizol Advanced Materials, reporting into Lubrizol's personal and home care business.
No financial details were disclosed.
Lubrizol also announced on Nov. 22 that it has formed an alliance with Mitsui Chemicals, Inc., making Lubrizol the exclusive worldwide seller and marketer of the Lucant polymer product range to the lubricant industry and significantly expanding its portfolio of performance polymers. The agreement includes a joint approach to new polymer research and development.
Lubrizol plans to market Lucant as a viscosity modifier for lubricant applications as well as a synthetic base fluid component for lubricant formulations.
