GRA Nutra launches AuraBC natural beta-carotene food color
GRA Nutra AG has introduced AuraBC, a natural beta-carotene food color produced through non-GMO fermentation technology.
The ingredient is designed to provide yellow-to-orange shades across a range of food and beverage applications, including flavored waters, sparkling beverages, energy drinks, juices, dairy-based beverages, and gummies.
According to GRA Nutra, AuraBC is manufactured using proprietary fermentation and formulation technologies and is positioned as a clean-label alternative to synthetic colorants. The company said the product is intended to help manufacturers reformulate products as demand grows for natural colors.
GRA Nutra said AuraBC will be available in multiple formats, including spray-dried powders, beadlets, granulations, oil suspensions, and emulsions. The company said the ingredient can be standardized at concentrations ranging from 1% to 30%.
The company also highlighted its vertically integrated production model, which combines ingredient production, extraction, purification, and formulation within a single facility. GRA Nutra said this approach is intended to reduce transport requirements, minimize energy use, and improve manufacturing efficiency.
GRA Nutra plans to bring its first commercial AuraBC production plant online in early 2027.
The company will showcase beverages and gummies colored with AuraBC at IFT FIRST in Chicago, July 13–15.
