ActiveCool DTS 5000 enclosure cooling units improve airflow and installation efficiency
Pfannenberg Inc. has introduced the ActiveCool DTS 5000 Series enclosure cooling units, expanding its thermal management portfolio with new features designed to improve cooling performance, simplify installation, and streamline maintenance for industrial control cabinets.
The ActiveCool DTS 5000 Series is engineered for high-density electrical enclosures and uses a long internal air path that draws hot air from above heat-generating components before delivering cooled air below. According to Pfannenberg, a larger evaporator coil increases airflow to help maintain more consistent enclosure temperatures.
The side-mount units fit most 12-inch-wide cabinets and are available in cooling capacities of 4,700 and 8,500 BTU per hour. Each model uses R513A refrigerant, which helps customers meet environmental regulations, including requirements affecting California and IT applications. The refrigerant is also rated A1 nonflammable.
Pfannenberg said the cooling units are available with Type 12, Type 3R, and Type 4X protection for use in dusty manufacturing environments, washdown applications, and outdoor installations.
The ActiveCool DTS 5000 Series is designed to reduce maintenance time by allowing technicians to access critical components from outside the enclosure without opening an energized control cabinet. According to the company, this approach minimizes downtime while avoiding lockout/tagout procedures during routine service. A preinstalled enclosure gasket also helps speed installation.
Customers can choose either an external LED status indicator or a digital display controller that allows temperature settings to be viewed and adjusted without opening the enclosure. The series is listed to UL 60335 safety standards for industrial equipment.
