BinMaster has released IECEx- and ATEX-certified VRX vibrating probe sensors for Zone 20 and 21 hazardous-location applications.

The sensors provide high-, low- and plugged-chute level detection in bins, tanks and silos.

The VRX probes are designed for lightweight pellets, fluffy powders and clingy materials with bulk densities as low as 1.25 pounds per cubic foot. A buildup-resistant, blade-shaped probe and adjustable sensitivity settings help reduce false alerts.

The sensors include a red/green LED status indicator visible from more than 100 feet away. Operators can also connect automated level alerts to a horn, alarm panel or programmable logic controller.

The new models use die-cast aluminum power pacs with a USDA-approved powder coat finish. A screw-off cover provides access for configuration and troubleshooting while protecting the sensor from demanding process conditions.

BinMaster offers five ATEX-certified VRX configurations:

• VRX-21: Standard model for high-level, low-level and plugged-chute detection.
• VRX-31: Includes a sanitary stainless-steel fitting for clean-in-place food and pharmaceutical processing.
• VRX-41: Features a user-customized rigid probe extension of up to 13 feet.
• VRX-61: Provides high-temperature operation up to 482°F, or 250°C, with a raw-cast aluminum housing.
• VRX-71: Offers high-temperature operation up to 482°F, or 250°C, with a user-specified extended probe up to 13.3 feet.

The probes are suited for applications in agriculture, mining, cement and other industrial operations where dust and bulk materials can create demanding process conditions.
