SNF Oil and Gas Limited, a subsidiary of French-based water-soluble polymer producer SNF Group, has announced plans to build a specialty chemical plant in northeast England that will employ approximately 250 workers, The Northern Echo reported.
The plant, which will produce products for the offshore oil and gas industries and water treatment plants, will be built near an existing fertilizer plant in Billingham and is expected to be open by the end of 2014.

Engineering design firm K Home International will oversee the development of the new factory.
“This represents a significant expansion to SNF’s production capability in Europe," said Simon Tearle, SNF UK group managing director. “The site will be one of the largest SNF emulsion production facilities and we are excited to be bringing employment and growth to the Teesside area."
