A poultry processing plant switched its process water chlorination strategy from gaseous chlorine to calcium hypochlorite for a test period. The results brought significant effectiveness and efficiencies to the plant. The plant decided to remove the chlorine gas system, a primary goal from a safety standpoint and use the calcium hypochlorite system which also had a smaller footprint.
This report provides details on the test and how it provided an effective sanitizing option for gaining consistently accurate water chlorination at the Peco Foods Batesville plant.
