Sliding Vane Magnetic Drive Pumps 

Blackmer recently announced the availability of its new MAGNES Series Sliding Vane Magnetic Drive Pumps. The latest advancement in seal-less magnetic drive technology, MAGNES Series pumps incorporate innovative design features that result in the world’s first pumps that produce a combination of flexibility, functionality and reliability to solve legacy operating pain points — including unexpected dry run, pumping fluids with solids, handling of fluids with entrained vapors and poor inlet conditions, and inflexible pump operating range — while also delivering technically superior handling of hazardous chemicals in severe-duty applications. MAGNES Series pumps are positive displacement rotary vane pumps that use a magnetic drive without dynamic seals, providing a leak-free pumping solution for difficult-to-seal, expensive, valuable, dangerous and hazardous liquids. With this rotary vane magnetic drive pump design, these pumps combine the leak-free benefits of a magnetic drive pump with the numerous advantages of sliding vane technology — including self-priming, line-stripping, product recovery, indefinite dry-run capability, solids handling, thin/thick viscosity flexibility, easy maintenance, low to zero NPSHr, 70% to 90% pump efficiencies and full-curve operational flexibility. Available in a 3-inch model (a 4-inch model will be available in January 2021) in both ductile iron and stainless-steel construction, MAGNES Series pumps feature a non-metallic, proprietary composite containment shell that provides the coupling strength of a thin wall metallic shell and the reliability of an eddy-current-free design.

BULK BAG DISCHARGERS 

Bulk bag dischargers from Best Process Solutions, Inc. (BPS) provide dust-free product discharge from bulk bags. These bulk bag dischargers are expandable and flexible to meet discharging and bulk bag requirements. They are available in three reliable models: BPS’s Model MTD-2.5K for unloading large bulk bags up to 2,500 lb. capacity; Model MTD-4K for very large bulk bags up to 4,000 lb. capacity; and heavy-duty Model BBD-4K discharger with vibratory motor agitation to assist in unloading hard-to-remove products.  Many options are available.

SEMI-AUTOMATIC HAND PROMPT BATCHING SYSTEM 

Sterling Systems & Controls, Inc. recently introduced its most affordable batching system, the semi-automatic hand prompt batching systems. The semi-automatic hand prompt batching system is a semi-automatic batching system that still requires operator involvement through each step in the batching process, but provides automated operator instructions/prompting, ingredient validation and lot tracking, and automatic weighing with over/under tolerance control. The semi-automatic hand prompt batching system eliminates bad batches that result from operator error and interruption. The operator no longer needs to keep track of where he or she is in the batching process, the semi-automatic hand prompt batching station does that for them automatically, meaning no missed ingredients and no bad batches. The system controller’s PC and touchscreen display will ask the operator to weigh ingredients and sequences an operator through a formula one ingredient at time. The primary advantage of the system is to ensure that each ingredient is added to the container, is within a programmed weight tolerance and from the correct ingredient lot before the controller will index to the next ingredient to be added. This ensures the validity of all batches created by the operator.

PRE-INSULATED PIPING SYSTEM 

The new COOL-FIT PE Plus pre-insulated polyethylene piping system from GF Piping Systems, the next evolution of the COOL-FIT product line, offers a technological leap in process cooling. The new system builds on the excellent performance of its predecessor by providing even higher thermal efficiency, significantly reduced maintenance and operational costs, and faster installation time. The system is ideal for food and beverage production, pharmaceutical production, refrigerated storage facilities, data centers, dairies, fruit and vegetable processors, slaughterhouses and breweries. COOL-FIT PE Plus includes a complete range of pre-insulated pipe, fittings, valves and hoses that efficiently convey brine, glycol, ethanol, and cooled water in temperatures from 58°F to 140°F (60°C to -50°C).  All surfaces are sealed and vapor tight and 100% UV-resistant. The system is 100% maintenance-free and will not corrode over time. These characteristics reduce expensive operation interruptions and maintenance. COOL-FIT PE Plus offers up to 25% more energy efficiency than competitive systems. This is accomplished with low heat conductivity from its plastic construction and its robust foam insulation. The smooth interior surface of the medium pipe prevents deposit build-ups to ensure reliability and eliminate pressure loss. Insulation on both fittings and pipe are bonded together, preventing condensation build-up between the two.
