An explosion and fire was reported Monday at the AkzoNobel polymer chemicals plant in La Porte, Texas, about 25 miles southeast of Houston.
Officials said the explosion occurred in a unit that produces butyl ethyl magnesium, according to click2houston.com.
One worker suffered burns and was transported to a local hospital to be treated. No other injuries were reported.

Firefighters were called to the scene, but the plant's in-house fire department was able to control the fire.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
The plant produces metal alkyls, including aluminum, magnesium, boron and zinc alkyls, which are used in the plastics and pharmaceutical industries.
