Chemicals company The Lubrizol Corporation has completed two acquisitions within the space of one week, expanding its home care operations and creating a new business segment in the field of oilfield solutions.

Most recently, the company announced on January 2 that it has acquired Warwick Chemicals, a company that develops, produces and supplies stain removal technology with hygiene benefits. The business becomes part of Lubrizol Advanced Materials, reporting into Lubrizol's personal and home care business, and will retain the Warwick Chemicals company name.

Rick Tolin, Lubrizol's vice president and general manager for personal care and home care, said: "The acquisition of Warwick Chemicals enhances our strong portfolio of rheology modifiers, functional polymers and surfactants, and will place us in an excellent position to offer integrated solutions to our customers."

On December 31 the company finalized the acquisition in the United States and Canada of Weatherford International's global oilfield chemicals business, known as Engineered Chemistry, and its U.S. drilling fluids business, known as Integrity Industries. Associated closings in the rest of the world will occur throughout 2015.

The acquired businesses, along with Lubrizol's legacy energy and water business and Lubrizol Specialty Products, Inc., will form a newly created business segment, Lubrizol Oilfield Solutions.

In August Lubrizol acquired Vesta, a contract manufacturer for the global medical device industry, broadening its life science manufacturing capabilities with access to silicone and other thermoplastics utilized in medical devices.
