Volkmann and HP Additive Manufacturing Solutions collaborate on powder handling
Metal powder management systems for the HP Metal Jet S100 are expanding through a new collaboration between Volkmann GmbH and HP Additive Manufacturing Solutions.
The companies announced a global agreement that enables the HP Metal Jet S100 line of 3D printers to be equipped with Volkmann’s proprietary contained metal powder management system. The system is designed specifically for HP’s binder jetting technology platform.
The new vPort system provides a semi-automated, entry-level option for parts cleaning, powder recovery, and refilling. It complements HP’s existing fully automated solution, giving metal additive manufacturing customers greater flexibility in configuring their operations.
According to HP Additive Manufacturing Solutions, the system is intended to combine operational safety with efficient workflow. The solution is designed for ease of use and can be installed within a few days, allowing customers to begin producing end-use metal parts quickly.
The contained metal powder management system integrates Volkmann’s PowTReX basic for powder sieving, recovery, and transfer. It also incorporates the company’s vacuum conveyor, glove box, and locking dock system to seal and contain the HP build unit during handling.
The vPort system is available in the United States, Canada, and Europe through Volkmann.
