New Multimilla+ roller mill targets milling efficiency and food safety
Imas has introduced the Multimilla+ roller mill, a new milling system that combines updated structural design, automated controls, and advanced feeding and grinding technologies. The company officially unveiled the machine during the IDMA Istanbul exhibition held June 25-27, 2026.
According to Imas, the Multimilla+ roller mill incorporates new engineering standards from the feeding system through the grinding process to deliver consistent milling performance.
The machine features a redesigned structure focused on durability, hygiene, and operational reliability. Stainless steel product contact surfaces, rounded internal corners, and minimized dead areas are intended to support food safety. Imas also developed a Mineral Casting Carrier Chassis that the company says provides significantly greater vibration damping than welded steel construction to improve long-term reliability.
The feeding system includes infrared level sensors for bunker level measurement and feed management, along with a feed roll rotation sensor for monitoring operation. Direct drive technology for the feeding rolls is provided as a standard feature to improve efficiency while reducing maintenance requirements.
For the grinding process, the Multimilla+ roller mill offers optional new generation torque motors, which Imas says provide greater energy efficiency than traditional induction motors while supporting smooth operation and variable speed capability.
The roller mill also features the company's i-GPC Active Grinding Pressure Control system, which automatically monitors and adjusts grinding pressure in real time, eliminating manual grinding gap adjustments while helping maintain milling consistency and extraction.
To simplify maintenance, the Multimilla+ roller mill features fully opening front covers, a removable sliding feeding assembly, and a grinding roll replacement process that can be completed in about 15 minutes. The machine is also available with the SMARTLUB automated lubrication system, which can manage lubrication for a single roller mill or multiple roller mills throughout a plant, according to Imas.
