For more than 20 years, J.W. Treuth & Sons Inc., a kosher slaughterhouse based in Baltimore County, Md., has used a Model 5H oil skimmer from Oil Skimmers, Inc. to remove fats, oils and greases (FOG) from kill-floor wastewater. Vernon Treuth Sr. purchased the skimmer to correct FOG violations — the amounts of fats, oils and greases in the company’s wastewater were above state-set limits for disposal. The tube-type oil skimmer provided an affordable and efficient solution for lowering the FOG concentrations in the slaughterhouse wastewater. Mr. Treuth said his third-generation, family-owned business has been in compliance since the installation of the Model 5H oil skimmer.
