LSB to build ammonia plant in Arkansas

LSB Industries’ Chemical Business has announced plans to construct a 375,000 ton per year ammonia plant at the El Dorado Chemical Co. (EDC) site in El Dorado, Ark.

LSB Industries' Chemical Business has announced plans to construct a 375,000 ton per year ammonia plant at the El Dorado Chemical Co. (EDC) site in El Dorado, Ark.

LSB has signed a contract with SAIC Constructors to provide certain engineering services and to manage the construction of the ammonia plant and associated facilities.

The total cost of the ammonia plant project is estimated to be between $250 million and $300 million. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.

The EDC site produces a variety of agrochemical and industrial products including regular nitric acid and concentrated nitric acid, mixed (nitrating) acids, sulfuric acid and both agricultural and industrial grade ammonium nitrate.
