Industrial Controls launches new business unit, ICD Building Automation

Industrial distributor Industrial Controls recently introduced a new business unit, ICD Building Automation, which is focused on helping commercial building owners and managers improve day-to-day operations and IoT applications.

David Wilken, vice president of Rawson/Industrial Controls, said ICD Building Automation offers simple-to-complex automation solutions for customers in specific markets.

As a leading supplier of building automation systems, ICD Building Automation provides solutions including heating, air conditioning, ventilation, combustion, sensors and flow and valves, as well as complementary equipment.

Since 1976, Industrial Controls has provided solutions for commercial HVAC, process control, industrial automation applications and industrial valves. With coverage in the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Southeast, New England and Northeast Texas, Industrial Controls backs a complete inventory of the industry’s finest products from the leading manufacturers, along with in-house engineering and design capabilities, technical consultation, assistance and support.

Ohio Transmission Corp. acquires Keller Electrical

Ohio Transmission Corporation, an industrial equipment service provider and distributor headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, recently acquired Keller Electrical, a provider of industrial electrical services, equipment, components and supplies serving the southwestern United States.

Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Keller Electrical maintains a sales and field service office in Tucson, Arizona, and has field service capabilities spanning the Southwest and Mexico.

Keller Electrical was founded in June 1982 with 11 employees and has grown over the years to become a service provider for electric motor repair, custom electrical controls, fabrication, engineering and equipment field service, installation and maintenance. Its customers represent a wide range of industries, including water and wastewater, mining, aggregate and cement, power generation, agriculture and manufacturing.  

Keller Electrical will continue to operate under its name and with current local management, including Cody Eslick, senior vice president of operations, and Jim Everson, senior vice president and CFO, both of whom will continue to lead the team. As a division of OTP Industrial Solutions, Keller Electrical will have access to OTC’s product and service offerings and resources.

FLIR Systems completes strategic investment for gas emissions

FLIR Systems recently made a strategic investment in Providence Photonics, developers of advanced software used to quantify invisible gas emissions using FLIR Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) cameras.

Providence Photonics specializes in the development and utilization of advanced technology in the field of optical gas imaging, while tackling some of the industry’s most challenging environmental and safety problems. Using patented technology, advanced computer vision techniques and state-of-the-art infrared imagers, they create solutions for several applications, including leak quantification, leak survey validation, autonomous remote leak detection and flare combustion efficiency monitoring.

As part of the strategic investment, FLIR will gain exclusive access to certain elements of Providence Photonics’ intellectual property, while helping to expand FLIR Systems’ set of offerings to its oil and gas industry customers. The companies will work to deploy Providence Photonics’ quantification algorithms in current and future FLIR OGI cameras and digital services.

Schütz opens new factory in Australia

The new Schütz Australia factory opened in November. As well as ideal logistic connections, the new site has facilities to produce new IBCs, IBC and drum reconditioning as well as high-performance storage and logistics facilities. The new plant is an investment that will optimize supplies to customers in the eastern part of the country.

As the company’s new manufacturing hub on the east coast, the plant provides sustainable packaging and services to customers in Queensland and New South Wales. It also significantly boosts delivery reliability and flexibility. In addition to the production facilities, the company’s local administration and sales offices are also located on the site.

Sauer Compressors and TMC partner for compressor solutions at sea

Sauer Compressors and TMC Compressors of the Seas are entering into a strategic partnership, further expanding their market position as suppliers for compressor solutions for worldwide shipping and offshore applications. They will cover the entire product portfolio for all compressed air and gas applications at sea.

With their new partnership, the two companies combine their strengths: the German medium-sized Sauer Compressors group as the world's leading supplier of starting air compressors and the Norwegian manufacturer TMC, a leading supplier of screw compressors in the maritime sector. For the various compressed air and gas applications on board sea-going vessels, both compressor types are required in many cases and are now available from a single source.
