Operator Training Standardization report

PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, has released two new work products from the OpX Leadership Network focused on operator training and data management. The resources aim to help manufacturers strengthen workforce readiness and improve the use of production data across packaging and processing operations.

According to PMMI, the Operator Training Standardization work product captures the collective input of original equipment manufacturers and consumer packaged goods companies on modern training practices. The guidance outlines a structured approach for developing capable equipment operators, including a standardized framework, methods for continuous improvement, and examples of successful implementation.

The Data Management Standardization work product provides a framework for collecting, prioritizing, and presenting machine data. Developed by the OpX data management group, the document offers guidance on key data points, governance practices, and methods for converting production information into actionable insights. PMMI notes that the goal is to align expectations across teams and ensure that the right data reaches decision-makers efficiently.

Both work products were developed through community-led discussions within the OpX Leadership Network, a group facilitated by PMMI and composed of consumer packaged goods executives and manufacturing, engineering, and operations professionals. The network focuses on identifying common operational challenges and producing industry-driven recommendations to advance operational excellence.
