The Heraldsburg, Calif., city council on Monday approved the budgeting of $1 million to build a 500-foot pipeline that will transport highly treated wastewater for irrigation, The Press Democrat reported.
The pipeline will be part of a system that will irrigate a golf course, parks and vineyards.
Heraldsburg currently discharges wastewater from its treatment plant into a pond that flows into the Russian River.
The city also intends to connect to Santa Rosa's Geysers pipeline system, which uses recycled water from Santa Rosa's regional sewer treatment system to generate electricity at The Geysers geothermal field.
